The Hen Weekend Away

Hi Beautifuls!

So apologies, this post is about 6 months late, but better to be later then never right? Earlier this year I attending my cousins hen weekend in Stratford Upon Avon and my god was it an amazing weekend.

Firstly my cousin's wedding is going to be a huge Greek Orthodox wedding, but I should also mention that she is mixed race herself (Jamaican, English and Indian) and her fella is originally from Cyprus so, this wedding is a huge melting pot of cultures... how exciting! So it's only right that the hen wedding is just as big and this is a little post about that.

The weekend was arranged by my cousin as she wanted to make sure she knew everything that was going on and she wanted us to stay at the Welcome Spa which has Shakespeare named apartments, the only hiccup of the weekend was that the hotel messed up our booking so not all of us could stay in the apartment but they did allow us to stay in an amazing suite which was better in my humble opinion.

We spent the weekend using the spa facilities and also had our own separate dining area for afternoon tea and evening dinner with disco (the DJ was our Uncle).

The evening was perfect for the bride who knows just what she wants and perfect for a crowd of people who don't tend to enjoy your typical hen do celebrations.

Now there are other Bride's to be who want to know exactly what is going on for their hen do as well as the wedding itself and this is absolutely fine, it's their experience after all. As a maid of honour you MUST support these sort of brides and help anyway you can.. if allowed. Lets face it this bride is controlling and it's best not to annoy them in anyway.. just go with their flow!

My top tips for this style of hen celebrations:
1. If the bride organises her own celebrations, she will more then likely delegate if she wants to

2. If you are going to surprise the bride with something, drop hints prior to the event so you know she won't be disappointed.

3. If there is a schedule for the weekend ask for a copy so you can be one step ahead in case of any dramas.

4. If you can't organise anything in addition, make sure all attendees are aware of timescales and offer to arrange the transport.

5. Make sure the bride is relaxed and not overthinking the whole weekend away.

The Hen Celebrations

Hi Y'all!

I celebrated my best friend's hen do last weekend and I wanted to share with you what we got up to, what we wore and some quick tips for a low key celebration.

My bestie wanted something fun with her closest friends and a super night out afterwards so we went to The Comedy Loft in Birmingham which is a comedy club with food and table service. The venue then turns into a club with more then one room for everyone's musical needs which is where we spent the rest of the night. It was a good venue for us as we really couldn't be bothered to walk up and down Broad Street in Birmingham and danced until our feet hurt.

We had a blast and the Bride to be really enjoyed her not, we obviously dressed her up wth the usual items a Bride to be should wear however she sneakily left her veil back at home haha!

One of the girls also found these personalised stickers online that we all wore.....

Here is what I wore...

Leather skirt - Primark
Bodysuit - Primark
Heels - New Look

I am so excited to be her maid of honour

By the way, doesn't my bestie have the most awesome legs?

Now it's not long until her and her fiancé big day in October, how exciting!

Here are my top tips for Hen celebrations:
1. A comedy club and drinks package is so easy to do, if you pick the right company everyone can pay online individually and at their own pace

2. Make sure the Bride to be is always happy, that she looks fab and get as many photos/videos as possible.

3. You can purchase items to dress the hen and/or bridesmaids up from some card shops and Ann Summers if you don't want to order online.

4. If you have to sober up to look after all the hen's then do it, don't forget you are a collective!

5. Make sure everyone gets home safe if you don't stay in a hotel

Pet Tips: Things you need to know before owning a Sphynx cat

Hi Folks!

Have you ever looked at an exotic pedigree cat and thought 'I so want one of those'.. like in particular a Sphynx? Because I sure have and for numerous years, I think since I was a teen I have always want to re-home a gorgeous Sphynx kitty.

Well now I finally am the proud owner of a pedigree Sphynx called Gadget and really felt that after five months it was time to do a blog post and share my inside wisdom of a few tips you definitely need to know before owning one. These are the top things you need to know from a new Sphynx owner...

1. They are very needy cats
Imagine this breed is the cat version of dogs, no seriously they really can be like that annoying dog your friend might have that won't leave you alone every time you visit. I mean imagine him/her wanting affection non stop... it sounds amazing and trust me it can be but they never stop with it. They require attention 24/7 and you need to be ready for this, I mean really ready and to help you out it is advised to never re-home a Sphynx on it's own, it is always advised to re-home them in pairs. They require a lot of attention and it'll be great if they have a friend to spend time with when you are away. In case you were unaware Sphynx are unable to be outdoor cats so they need as much enrichment as possible like toy's and climbing frames because they like to explore.

Also they are sooooooo loud, I am not exaggerating and this is why I am giving you this information first and foremost. Sphynx cats are vocal cats indeed... get ready to loose hours of sleep and feel like you can't do anything without your little furless baby noticing because they are very intelligent kitties and notice everything.

2. They need to be warm 24/7 - even in the Summer
Your heating bill could escalate big time making sure they are always warm. Buying cute clothes is good but not always the best solution so invest in as many quality blankets and beds as possible and always have a bed near a radiator because it is their favourite spot in the house..... next to snuggling up to you at night. I always find Gadget in between my legs most mornings it get less weird as time goes by.

3. Be careful of feeding times - they have very sensitive tummies
From what I have experienced Sphynx will eat everything in sight and feed as though they have never eaten before, but it might not agree with their tummies. Don't think stocking up on cheap dry food will do to keep them filled up, you have to spend money to make sure they are eating the right foods and often, more food equals more energy. The absence of fur means Sphynx cats are using up so much more energy to keep warm then cats with fur.

Most of them can not tolerate dry food and have IBS, so you will find yourself spending more money on wet food. I also buy chicken and fish fillets to cook as treats every few days just as extra to keep my kitty full of good protein, but you can find out other tricks and different foods to help them filled up online such as scrambled egg, tuna etc.

4. They must be bathed every week
Although they have no fur, their skin gets really mucky fast leaving those precious white bed sheets of yours a mess and they can get pretty stinky too. Bathing them once a week or once every two weeks max is a must! You can also spot clean them with baby wipes, you wouldn't believe the state of the wipe afterwards. In addition to this you have to clean out their ears and clip their claws... they might not like it but a clean kitty is better then a stinky kitty.

5. Not everyone see's how fabulous and regal they are
I have had so many mixed comments about my baby Gadget and some are not nice, so be prepared for the honesty of some people when they meet your kitty. The term 'ewww' is an often remark I hear. But they are beautiful cats and you either love them or hate them, clearly if you're reading this you must love them right? Don't listen to other people, they haven't got a clue just how fabulous these cats are inside and out.

Like I say this is from my experience - you gain so much more information about Sphynx cats in books, online and from your local vet. Although I seem to have complained a fair bit in this post I have to give a honest opinion on what comes with owning this pedigree cat. There's really no point in sugar coating this because it's just the way it is.

If you are ready and willing to 'put up' with the bad that comes with the awesome... because owning a Sphynx is awesome I must admit, then go ahead and please don't forget to share photos with me I would love to see him/her and know how you're getting on.

Camping for Glam Girls

Hi Ladies!

This is a quick guide to those fabulous girls who have never been camping and want to know what to expect of the unknown world of camping. I'm going to give a bit of advice but also some essential tips on how to survive a camping trip. This is not a guide for 'glamping' because the two are completely different.

A few weeks ago I went camping to Shell Island for the second time in my life, and as you might be able to gather from my blog and other social media accounts I'm quite the glam girl. Not only that but whenever I talk about camping to others they're always so shocked that I'm actually getting involved it and that I enjoy it

So what can I advise?

Accommodation:
Lets be realistic this is not going to be a night at The Ritz, heck it won't even be a night at a Travel Lodge but you can make your over night stay in the middle of a field as comfortable as possible.

Firstly when it comes to tents I do leave that to my boyfriend but we always use a two man tent, to be comfortable make sure your tent can hold a blow up double size bed - trust me you NEED a blow up bed otherwise your back will hate you the next few days. Always bring the following as well as the above to make the best of your bedroom for the next night:
- Sleeping bags
- Pillows
- Extra blanket
- Onesie - if it's not Summer you will need this
- Tent light - trust me it gets really dark and you will get fed up of holding a torch
- Fairy lights - I like to 'try' to decorate our tent however next time I need a much longer set of fairy lights as you can see here...

Lounging area
So this is where you will set up one or more gazebos which will act like the front room in your home, this is where you will sit and talk for the evening (Unless you camp somewhere that has pubs etc and feel to utilise those which we don't) this will also double up as your kitchen too. What you need to bring here are:
- Camping/garden chairs
- Off the ground fire
- Lights

Cooking:
When it comes to food you must be well stocked, although don't panic there are usually shops of some sort near by that will sell items you might feel like eating. We brought all of ours in a cooler and were able to cook everything on fancy camping hobs so make sure you don't forget:
- Pans/Pots
- Cutlery
- Food for meals and snacks
- Water
- Bin liners - to throw away anything that is not needed

Things to do:
In the day time camping can be to do not a fat lot however being by the Sea we definitely wanted to take a walk down there and it was lovely. We also tried our hand at crabbing.. well everyone except me as they favour spiders way to much for my liking.

So what are my top must haves for all you glam girls:

1. Wellies
Whether you get these from Hunters or Primark you must invest in some because you never know what the weather will be. I brought my fab Michael Kors with me

2. Wet wipes
They literally are handy for everything

3. Warm clothes and lots of it
You never know what the weather will  be like to warm layers, thick socks and onesies are always  good shout

4. Toiletries
Most camping sites have showers that you can use, don't forget your shower gel, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste and of course toilet roll.

5. Flip flops
If you use the communal showers you will regret not having these.

So that's my guide, I hope it helps and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask! Enjoy camping glam girls.

How to be an awesome maid of honour: My Stationary

Hi Lovelies!

I got this funky designed folder and notepad from the one and only Poundshop recently. At only £1 each you really can't go wrong. The notepad is great because it has separate sections so for example I can keep all of the hen do planning and preparations in one section, do's and don't in another and bridesmaid information and so on.  I made sure my cousin aka Bride to Be was aware that I would be jotting down any information needed that we will need to assist her with and all information on the bridesmaid front.

Being a Virgo, trust me when I say I write lists upon lists and like to attempt to keep everything organised, a lot of the time this never goes to plan hence why I have a diary that I carry with me 24/7 and masses of individual lists tucked in almost every page of it.

I keep these all in a safe place where nothing will be split onto them and also somewhere I can easily access them if I am in a rush etc.

Top tip:
- If your bride has a ribbon of the selected colour for the wedding going spare, no doubt she will forget it at least once whilst wedding planning her big day. If you are fortunate enough to given a piece, make sure you staple this to your pad/folder so you never loose it just like I have!

How to be the best Maid of Honor...ever

Hi Girlies!

I have awesome news of which I couldn't be happier to announce and it's wedding related. I have been asked to be Maid of Honor in the last month by both my best friend and one of my closest cousins.. yes ladies and gentlemen I have been asked twice to hold this position and I really feel very privileged.

So I wanted to have a blog series so I could update you all every now and then, give tips and ideas. But mainly to document my thoughts and the progress of planning a wedding and helping as a bridesmaid/maid of honor as I've never had so much input to one before let alone two.

Let me tell you a little bit about my brides and the weddings due to take place.....

My close cousin
My cousin Sabrina has asked me to be maid of honor for her Greek Orthodox wedding in 2017. It will be humongous and just  like the film I think highly over the top, fabulous and a wedding not to be missed. There will be up to seven bridesmaids and this includes flower girls so although I have a lot of responsibility I will also have a lot of helping hands.

My best friend
My best friend, Rosalyn asked me and another friend to be joint maid of honors as she is only having us two as bridesmaids. Her wedding will be planned in a little over a year in 2016 and will be very small and intimate and not fussy in the slightest. I might not post an awful lot about this wedding due to my friend being one of the most private people around.

So stay tuned for updates, tips and inspirations of being 'The best maid of honor...ever'

OOTD: My working wardrobe!

Hi Ladies!

I wanted to share the great news that I have now got a new job which I am so happy about! I have left my ex employer after four years and couldn't be happier, my new career is still within Recruitment however I no longer have he words 'administrator' 'assistant' or 'receptionist' within my job title - I am now a Recruitment Coordinator and looking forward so much to taking a step in the right direction on the career ladder.

So in light of this I wanted to dedicate a post to what I wear to work as the office dress code is smart/business dress which is a great change to my former work place which was a sort of casual/anything goes.

Here is a round up of some of the outfits I've worn since being at my new place, I always work around a staple item each day...

Tartan Dress
I love this dress - I got a few compliments on it too - it's just the right length and teamed with a cardigan or suit jacket helps smarten it up a touch more
Dress - Primark

Cropped Trousers
These nude trousers go well with so many different tops but this week with the bitterly cold weather I decided to wear this simple jumper (that goes with SO much by the way) and then the finishing item is a statement necklace
Trousers - River Island
Jumper - Primark
Shirt - George @ Asda
Necklace - Primark

Red blazer
I love this blazer and I think the shades black and white go really well with it and make the red POP!
Blazer - ASOS
Top - River Island
Belt - Primark
Skirt - Primark

Lace Dress
This dress is so cute, I have never been the biggest fan of lace until this year and the nude underlay is lovely. I have some nude heels and flats that go really well with this
IMAGE COMING SOON
Dress - Primark

I am definitely looking forward to sharing more smart outfit combinations and I hope you will keep checking back for them. If not make sure you follow me on Instagram and let me know!

How to: Three ways to wear your box braids in an up do

Hi Lovelies!

So hands up which of my readers love box braids? Oh good, me too!

When I have my hair in box braids, most of the time I have to admit I do have my hair styled up and out the way. Why? Because let's face it, it does get in the way. I wanted to share with you three ways I like to wear my box braids in an up do when I have my hair braided.

Big messy bun
This style is pretty simple to achieve; all you need to do is pull the braids through your hair bobble  but not all the way through and leave it handing loose, then tuck in any straggly ends underneath and voila!

To accessorize or not
A simple donut bun is neat and tidy but can be spruced up with a headscarf/bow, just make sure you pin away any escaping strands of braids that try  to mess up this look.

 Quirky Bun
If you fancy something different why not try half you hair up in a twist bun and the rest down.

Will you be trying any of these looks? If you need a tutorial video/step by step of any of them please leave a comment.

Healthy Eating: Detox Water

Hi Everyone!

Recently I have been drinking lots and lots of detox water, I came across this interesting way to drink water online. We are supposed to drink about 1 litre of water a day, I personally find drinking that amount hard. Why? Because water is boring to me, I love flavour and so when I came across this I was SO happy.

It is one of the easiest things you can make when trying to be healthy. All you have to do is add fruit to water and leave for a few hours or overnight so that it infuses together and then drink. If you want to eat the fruit after  you can.

My most recent detox water is strawberry, I find he strongest fruits like citrus are the best tasting - Pineapple is one of my favourites.

The benefits of detox water is it's a natural detox, helping flush impurities out of your system. No matter the flavour when I drink this I know that I am filing my systems with the required amount of water I need a day and the nutrients from the fruit/veg

The best detox water is lemon water and the benefits of that are:
Clears skin
Balances PH
Ais digestion
Natural Diuretic
Boosts immune system
Helps with weight loss
Hydrates the lymph system

Have you tried detox water?

My Memory Jar

Hi Folk!

I've been meaning to start up a Memory Jar since the start of January but with me being me I kept forgetting to actually buy a jar to be able to do this.

So what is a memory jar you might ask?

Well it's a place to write down memories that stand out to you - good or bad - mainly good memories though, that you put into the jar for that year. You can also put in anything such as tickets to events and keepsakes etc. As long as it can fit into the jar and you still have room to fill it with memorabilia throughout the year you're good to go.

You can decorate the jar anyway you wish to, mines pretty simple at the moment as I'm not a 100% sure what else to add to it. I have put some marble like stones with confetti at the bottom of the jar...

You have to wait until the end of the year, and then open your jar and go through all your wonderful memories. So far mine is filled with good memories, I want to be happy about all the things I experienced this year when I go through mine......

Do you have a memory jar? If not why don't you start one up, it's not too late to remember all the good stuff you've been through so far this year! And if you have jar leave your link in the comments so I can see yours.
