OOTD: My working wardrobe!

Hi Ladies!

I wanted to share the great news that I have now got a new job which I am so happy about! I have left my ex employer after four years and couldn't be happier, my new career is still within Recruitment however I no longer have he words 'administrator' 'assistant' or 'receptionist' within my job title - I am now a Recruitment Coordinator and looking forward so much to taking a step in the right direction on the career ladder.

So in light of this I wanted to dedicate a post to what I wear to work as the office dress code is smart/business dress which is a great change to my former work place which was a sort of casual/anything goes.

Here is a round up of some of the outfits I've worn since being at my new place, I always work around a staple item each day...

Tartan Dress
I love this dress - I got a few compliments on it too - it's just the right length and teamed with a cardigan or suit jacket helps smarten it up a touch more
Dress - Primark

Cropped Trousers
These nude trousers go well with so many different tops but this week with the bitterly cold weather I decided to wear this simple jumper (that goes with SO much by the way) and then the finishing item is a statement necklace
Trousers - River Island
Jumper - Primark
Shirt - George @ Asda
Necklace - Primark

Red blazer
I love this blazer and I think the shades black and white go really well with it and make the red POP!
Blazer - ASOS
Top - River Island
Belt - Primark
Skirt - Primark

Lace Dress
This dress is so cute, I have never been the biggest fan of lace until this year and the nude underlay is lovely. I have some nude heels and flats that go really well with this
IMAGE COMING SOON
Dress - Primark

I am definitely looking forward to sharing more smart outfit combinations and I hope you will keep checking back for them. If not make sure you follow me on Instagram and let me know!

Avon UK Domestic Violence Campaign - #Wall of Silence

Hi Everyone!

This year the world of social media has really been helping everyone acknowledge a heap of charities for well worthy causes such as the Ice bucket challenge for ALS , the no make up selfie for breast cancer, selfie with your dog for the Manchester dogs home and many many more!

Although I have taken part in the majority of them when I heard about this great campaign that Avon has started I had to write a blog post to accompany my selfie and donation because it is something that I rarely discussed and it touched me. Avon UK are running the #wallofsilence selfie campaign in aid of  Domestic Violence and I am shocked that I did not know about this sooner.

This is my 'SHHH' selfie and for every selfie with the hashtag wallofsilence, Avon will donate £1....

Avon UK launched its Speak Out against Domestic Violence campaign in 2009 and has raised more than £1.5 million for charity partners Refuge and Women's Aid. Learn more about Avon UK's support for women's causes here.

I have experience domestic abuse myself - I have been head butted,  man handled and emotionally/mentally abused by an ex partner. Until this day he would never admit the violence he made against me, infact he told everyone that I had made up him head butting me the night it happened which upset me greatly. However when we broke up he did apologise for mistreating me as a boyfriend - whether this includes the violent/emotional abuse I do not know but at the time I didn't listen to family and friends. I went back to him and I shouldn't of. I never spoke out about it again - until we broke up. But everytime I see domestic violence on a show or a friend comes to me because of something they have experienced I can not help but be deeply touched by it all because I have been there too.

Not many people speak up about it - men or women - and we really should! So I wanted to let anyone know who is reading this now that you can speak up about your experiences; to your family, friends, to me if you have to, my email address is available so I am more then willing to give any advice I can.

If you are experiencing domestic violence, or think you know someone who might be,
please reach out and get support:

Please help spread the word and share your selfie!

Face of the Day: Welcoming back plum lipstick

Hi Beauts!

I love that I can wear my darker shades of lipstick in Autmn and Winter, although there is nothing wrong with wearing them in Summer, I just feel better rocking them in the colder months. And today I welcomed this lovely shade out of hibernation....

Shade & Brand to be confirmed

Although this lipstick was bought from my local black hair shop in Wolverhampton it can pretty much be found in plenty well known brands such as Rimmel, MAC etc. (When I visit the store again I will be sure to add the definite name of the lipstick brand and shade)

What are you go to beauty brands and shades for the colder months?

Calling all fabulous singles looking for love!!

Hi Everyone!

A super quick post for the single guys and gals out there reading my blog, I want to draw your attention to the following bit of info:

When I spoke to the lovely Marina at Two Four Productions she had the following to say about the opportunity.....

"We're doing some research for a new observational documentary in which we’ll be giving single people the opportunity to take part in a social experiment and explore a new way of dating.  From hopeless romantics who always fall for the wrong person, those just out of a long-term relationship and ready to get back into the dating game, to anyone wondering why they’ve never found ‘the one’, we’re looking for warm, engaging and funny individuals who would like to try and increase their chances of finding love.

I’ve attached a flyer (with my colleague Farrah’s details) and I wondered whether you would be kind enough to mention it in your brilliant blog, any editorial, in your social media, tweet and / or share our details on Facebook, anyway to spread the word?  It really is a fantastic opportunity and I’d be very grateful for any help in reaching out to fabulous singletons."

If you're up for it then there's not a lot of time left to get in touch with Two Four! Leave a comment if you do go for it.

George at Asda Christmas Party Dress Range

Hi Ladies!

I've been taking a peek at this years Christmas party dress range and there a fair few little gems for great prices this year and I really wanted to share with you some of my favourite items.

There is something for everyone, something for those who really want to dress up, those who want to dress down and even some nice pieces for those well on their way to becoming yummy mummies in the maternity range.

I am definitely one who likes to dress up, so I wanted to share with you my favourite items for Christmas nights out....

Red Jumpsuit - £20
Red, one of the sexiest and festive colours to be wearing this Christmas. Teamed with a simple clutch and matching heels, a real head turning look!

Gold Sequin Dress - £25
For those who are more modest you can match this dress with opaque tights and black heels. If you're feeling more adventurous then forget the tights and find yourself some matching sparkly heels for that extra WOW factor

Lace Bardot Dress - £20
There can be no Christmas party range without a bit of lace! Off the shoulder and figure hugging style dress with some nude heels is also a winner

Lace Maternity Dress - £16
Not one to leave out the ladies looking for suitable maternity party wear this Christmas, there are also some lace options for you too! Available in two styles, without or without sleeves, I preferred the sleeve option and love love love this shade of teal

So what do you think?  Will you be purchasing anything from the Christmas party range from George at Asda ?

Outfit of the Day: Ombre Faux Fur Baby!

Hi Lovelies!

I've been MIA but i'm now back and with a bang, my first outfit of the day is dedicated to my fabulous and not so new, Love Label ombre jacket and teamed with my fabulous floppy hat, this outfit got a fair few compliments.....

Hat - A gift
Jacket - Love Label
Leggings - Primark
Top - Primark

Don't you always feel ten times better after a crappy, stressful period in your life then you decide enough is enough so you just get up, get dressed, do your hair and make up and go out for some retail therapy? Well this is how I felt on this day and so I continued my Christmas shopping- to some this is stressful, to me this is one of the best forms of de-stressing and a very productive day.

I purchased this jacket earlier in the year from Very.co.uk in the sale for around £40 and I had been waiting for the best time to take it out of my closet. I was even stopped by an assistant in New Look who asked where I got my jacket and she said I pulled it off really well and she loved the way is 'swished' as I walked. Yup I was definitely feeling better about myself after that compliment!

Have you added a new faux fur jacket to your closet for Winter?

My Birthday Gifts

Hi Sweets!

Another year older and my goodness I can not believe I am fast approaching my thirties..... how on Earth are my twenties coming to an end so suddenly? I still can not grasp the idea of it all but I guess I might as well get on with it!

Well I had a lovely Birthday as I spent the day with my boyfriend, parents and some friends. I wanted to share with you just a handful of the fabulous items I receied, because they really do deserve to be shared.

Lipsy Jumpsuit
The fella got me this fabulous jumpsuit which got me a lot of lovely compliments. It's from the Michelle Keegan range and fits so well.

Michael Kors Wellies
I used some of my birthday money to purchase these great finds in none other then TK Maxx, it's great what you can find in there sometimes.

PA System
My mom got me a new PA system for my singing gigs, I have yet to try it all out yet but very happy with them and even better they have lights that flash in beat with songs played.

Dorothy Perkins Heels
My housemate gave me these cute nude heels, I wore them out recently on a night out to Nottingham and they were quite comfortable but only for a few hours and then they became a tad painful.

So thats just a peak at what I got, some fab gifts and I definitely felt spoilt this year! I would say roll on next year but I don't want to wish another year away!

Splurge Vs Save: Autumn Eyeshadow Palettes

Hi Lovelies!

Another A/W inspired post, this time based around make up. I don't know about you but I tend to amend my make up look slightly when the Seasons change and have spotted the new A/W eyeshadow palettes in stores and thought why not post a new spend

Splurge
Cargo - £35

Illamasqua - £34

Save
Maybelline - £7.19

Sleek i-Divine  - £7.99

I think I would like to purchase a big palette this Autumn rather then a quad - purely because there are so much more shades to choose from. I am leaning towards the Sleek palette too which I have yet to try any of their eyeshadows.

What are your thoughts on Autumnal eyeshadow shades? Are you leaning more towards neutral or purples and plums?

Outfit Inspiration: Autumn is coming

Hi Fashionistas!

It's been a while since I posted an outfit inspiration for you all, so I thought as we seem to be rapidly moving into my favourite season which is none other then Autumn, I would do one based around that...

All items available from H&M

I hear that pastel colours will be quite big this A/W so I definitely like this staple coat, teamed with a simple dress and ankle boots this outfit can be worn almost anywhere.

I spotted those funky glasses which I had to add to the whole look as the Sun likes to pop his hat on every now and then through Autumn too and why not protect your eyes with something not so dull?

What are you thoughts on this outfit?

Playboy Makeup UK: Pin Up Challenge

Hi Lovelies!

I received this fabulous set from the team over at Playboy Make Up UK to complete the #playboypinupchallenge....

Mascara - Bunny black
Lipstick - Front Cover
Nail Varnish - No name provided, but is a lovely gold

As I love all things pin up I really enjoyed creating this look with the shade of lipstick given. Anyone who knows me knows my favourite shade to wear to create a pin up look is red so it was great to experiment with pink instead.

I attempted a beach babe style pin up look by adding a cute flower to my wave hair complete with quiff. The lipstick is one of the smoothest lippies I've ever tried and the mascara is fabulous! I have yet to use the polish yet, as I'm a little bit matchy matchy I didn't think this shade would go so I'll save that for another post.

I really like the lipstick and mascara though so I would definitely buy them given the chance.

What do you think?

My Chairish Styleboard

Hi All!

I was recently asked by the fabulous team over at Chairish to create my own personal styleboard based around a bar stool. I was given a few items to choose from to create this and I decided to go for the Wicker stool set as I found this to be quite easy to style up.  Here is my completed design....

Wicker Stools - Chairish
Lamp - Chairish
Mirror - Chairish
Rug - Lampsplus.com
Skull candle - Selfridges
Cushion - TBC
'Tres Chic' Canvas - Etsy.com

As you can see I stayed with a colour scheme of black and white which I think goes quite well with these stools. Like also the idea of using a styleboard to create themes for homes as well as outfits.

What do you think of this idea?

Outfit of the Night: Bank Holiday Fun

Hi Everyone!

How was your Bank Holiday weekend? I spent mine with friends drinking an awful lot of wine and cider - bad combination I know but luckily I haven't suffered majorly! I wanted to share one of the outfits I wore to the pub Friday night to celebrate a friends birthday...

Blazer - ASOS
Blouse - Primark
Jeggings - Asda
Heels - New Look
'Mulberry' look bag - Greece

I love love love wearing nude at the moment and mixed it up with splashes of red with my lipstick which is Collectionn 2000 and my blazer that I've owned for years.

My hairs a bit wild too - if you're curious to know the ins and outs of how I achieved this look then don't worry there will be a post coming in the near future dedicated to my hair.

What did you get up to this Bank Holiday?

Review: Collection 2000 Super Size Fat Lash Mascara

Hi All!!

Recently I have been trying out different mascara's to see if I can find a cheaper alternative - I am trying to do this with a fair bit of my make up selection. I have been quite successful with the blush/bronzer and I'm still pondering over if the cheaper alternative to my MAC Studio Fix foundation is better - check out the link and leave a comment if you know of a better dupe for this pretty please!

Anyway; I purchased the Collection 2000 Super Size Fat Lash mascara and here is my full review

It's Purpose
- The only magic wand you'll need for a fabulous lash look!
- Super volumising formula and brush.
- Creates bigger, bolder and super-sized lashes.

My Opinion
I spotted this mascara for only £2.99 in Boots the other week, after being attracted to the bright colour of the container I immediately checked out the brush size and length.

I have been so used to using lengthening mascaras with a much bulkier brush that using this quite thin brush was something I had to adapt to - but I guess some would say the results are in the technique too.

So here are some results after use...

As you can see it does give a reasonable length and also goes on really well. The brush is very comfortable to use but thinner then what I am used to using....

However for me the overall effect isn't 'super sizing' which disappointed me.I would say this mascara is for everyday use to add a bit of definition to my lashes. The only other downside of this mascara is that if you don't purchase the waterproof one you can be left with residue throughout the day once used on the lower lashes....

I have never experienced this with another mascara no matter how cheap it is and I was quite shocked that this happened more then once so now I don't risk wearing it on my lower lashes and I don't want people to think I've been randomly crying. So if you are going to buy this I would suggest getting the waterproof version just in case. I guess the search for my cheap dupe to lengthening mascara's is so still on.

Anyone else used this, what are your thoughts?

How to: Three ways to wear your box braids in an up do

Hi Lovelies!

So hands up which of my readers love box braids? Oh good, me too!

When I have my hair in box braids, most of the time I have to admit I do have my hair styled up and out the way. Why? Because let's face it, it does get in the way. I wanted to share with you three ways I like to wear my box braids in an up do when I have my hair braided.

Big messy bun
This style is pretty simple to achieve; all you need to do is pull the braids through your hair bobble  but not all the way through and leave it handing loose, then tuck in any straggly ends underneath and voila!

To accessorize or not
A simple donut bun is neat and tidy but can be spruced up with a headscarf/bow, just make sure you pin away any escaping strands of braids that try  to mess up this look.

 Quirky Bun
If you fancy something different why not try half you hair up in a twist bun and the rest down.

Will you be trying any of these looks? If you need a tutorial video/step by step of any of them please leave a comment.

Topic: Things that will never grace my wardrobe

Hi Wonderfuls!

I wanted to post something a little bit different today, instead of talking about items I admire or own I thought a quick post dedicated to the items in 'fashion' that I would never personally wear would mix it up a bit. There will always be items that come in and out of trend that some of us love and others dislike hate.... and here are mine!

Bum Bags/Fanny packs
Whatever you want to call them I don't care if they're convenient, I don't care if you stud them up, splash glitter on them etcetcetc in my opinion these should only be worn by grandad's!

Harem Pants
I can't pull these off and never considered trying to be honest, they make my thighs look huge. If I could pull them off like Princess Jasmine can then maybe I'd give them a shot however I really don't fancy resembling Aladdin so I steer clear.

Crocs
Do I really need to leave an explanation for why I wouldn't wear these? Really!

Real Fur
A controversial and sometimes hypocritical stances for those who do eat meat but I am against hunting animals as a sport and wearing their beautiful so you will NEVER see me wear real fur.

What would you never wear?

Health & Fitness: My Juice Plus Diet Journey

Hi Beauties!

So hands up; how many of you out there are struggling to loose the pounds? If your hands up then I was once there with you all and I was also of those who loves food a bit too much and hated working out; actually I still do love food and hate working out.

But I wanted to do a post based on my Juice Plus journey, for those of you who haven't heard of this brand of weight loss supplement then it is made of essential nutrients from fruit and vegetables. Not only that but it provides a fab variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes, smoothie recipes and detox plans to help you on your journey. And as you can see it is working for me...

Here is my three months progression - and my journey hasn't ended there AT ALL. I have been working out twice a week for the first part of the dieting, recently I have relaxed a bit because I don't want to depend on this diet. I know all about crash diets but this is a way to completely change the way you eat and look at food.

I have my holiday in three weeks so I'm doing well to maintain the position I am currently in, I will start working out again and I am hoping the next time you see my in next to nothing on my blog I'll look hot in a bikini at the beach. So here's to the next three months of healthy eating!

Anyone else tried Juice Plus? Leave me some links so I can see your journey.

Outfit of the Day: Royal Ascot 2014

Hi Beauts!

I can not believe it has been almost a week since I entered the fabulous Grandstand of the Ascot racecourse for the second year running. A big lover of dressing up, hats and horses once again I was in my element but this time I went with my boyfriend, mom and step-dad.

This year I based my outfit around the vintage dress I found in Canada in August last year....

At a bargain price of £12 I new it was perfect for this event and just had to hunt down a hat to go with it. Luckily I found this Jasper Conran hat in the Debenham sale from £90+ down to £28 - again another bargain.....

Here are some photos of the day...

If you have never been to horse racing or Royal Ascot I would definitely suggest you go as something to tick off your bucket list!

Did you go to Royal Ascot this year? If so please leave links!
