Brum Bloggers X Oasis Bullring 'Wild and Wonderful' Collection

Hey cupcakes!

I was lucky enough to be invited to a fabulous event hosted by Brum Bloggers and Oasis Bullring to view the new collection inspired by one of the Natural History Museum displays.

The collaboration is called Wild & Wonderful and it does exactly what it says on the tin. The pieces in the collection are a variety of dresses, trousers, skirts, tops and accessories so something for everybody.

The main focus of the designs are the cute pastel floral designs, Minibeast prints and sometimes a mixture of both.

Now being local to Birmingham I jumped at the chance of viewing this collection and also seeing what else Oasis has in store. A little backstory, I used to shop in Oasis all the time until the Wolverhampton branch closed down. Major sigh! My favourite pair of jeans used to be Oasis jeans.... now this was very much when I was two stone lighter mind you... where are those jeans now actually?

When I looked around this bag really caught my eye, it seemed so perfect for my current job role as an Animal Educator and I felt as though it was calling me to purchase it. Do you think I bought it? I'll reveal down below!

We were given the opportunity to try on any and everything in store and try and mixed the new collection with it's own items or in store.

Here is what I choose to style and wear, tell me your favourite....

Finally we were lucky enough to have lush food provided by Bills Restaurant, Smashbox offered a free makeover and provided us with free lipstick and to top that all off we got 20% off in store and access to a complimentary VIP styling.

What do you think of the collection?

And my new bug bag.... yup I bought the bag covered in Minibeasts and I can't wait to use it for work. If you want to see more about this event you can search #bbxoasisbullring or Brum Bloggers website!

Trends: Pleated skirts

Hey Girlfriend!

Have you spotted the pleated skirts popping up everywhere? Well I have a guuuuurl I need to get me one of these skirts. I have no clue where I will wear it but I need it in my life.

Sooooo I went on a  little hunt to show you some of the cutest pleated skirts I've seen about...
TFNC @ House of Fraser

Topshop
Pinko @ Harrods

Miss Selfridge

There is just something about the metallic skirts that really scream out to me at the moment and I really hope I find the perfect skirt length wise for me as I'm really particular about the length of skirts on my legs.

Do you have a pleated skirt? If so how do you style it, leave links below!

A/W Winter Coats under £100

Hey Ladies!

If you can't quite decide on a coat for the Autumn/Winter seasons then check out the following coats I spotted on the River Island website. And for those of you who don't want to spend over £100 I made sure all items I have posted here are under that budget amount.

Check them out.....

I love the neutral colours of this coat teamed with the simple faux fur collar

This coats design is so nice, I haven't seen this one up close and personal but I have a feeling it's not very thick, so a coat for more special occasions

I love the faux fur collar on this jacket, it's just the right length

You can't go wrong with a staple trench coat in your wardrobe, very smart.

I really like all of these coats and these were just my top picks that are all under £100. There are plenty more under that amount on the website too so check them out and let me know your thoughts.

S/S Trends: Long Skirts

Hi Beauts!

So I've recently had a look at what we have in store and one of these season's spring/summer trends is Long Skirts. They come in a variety of styles and lengths but the common denominator is the are knee length or below.....

I think this is one of those trends you need to have the confidence to wear. I believe either you can or can not pull it off by your own confidence. But if you team the right items together, the outfit should just flow naturally. This trend is not the same as the tight bodycon skirts we have been rockin' since last Summer, these now include tea length skirts and tulle skirts. Think Carrie Bradshaw is SATC?

Match your skirt with a fitted logo t shirt or brogues and you're off to a great start.

What do you think of this trend?

Dead Lovers Clothing

Hi Beauts!

So if you follow me on Instagram then you are more then likely already aware that I recently won a clothing giveaway with the fabulous new brand Dead Lovers Clothing

Panther Crop Top - Pug Sweatshirt
Skeleton Bodycon - Galaxy Midi Skirt - Leopard Bodycon

I was so happy to receive the goodies because I already own a Wolf Bodycon by Dead Lovers that I purchased back in December at the Clothes Show Live - it was actually my Christmas Day outfit and my cousin also wore the matching sweatshirt as a private joke. Already being a admirer of the brand was a big help!

Adding more bodycon's to the mix was ideal - we all know how much I love bodycons and this my friends has never changed! The brand is so unique and the prints are also available on tops, leggings etc and for both men and women. I am really excited to see Dead Lovers grow in the fashion industry and evolve with the trends, but I know for sure they will be setting their own trends too.

Leopard - Skeleton - Wolf

What do you think of the brand? If you have no problem with making a statement then make sure you head on over to the site!

Primark Launches Online

Hi All!!

This week our beloved high street store Primark has finally launched it's brand online via ASOS and I couldn't be happier!

Primark has resisted the option of online sales for it's shoppers because they wanted to keep the high street experience alive. And like many, I do enjoy in store shopping experiences - on a good and well prepared day - but we all know Primark can be one of the most hectic places to shop.

The transition to the online shopping world should prove a success for the brand and I wish them all the luck in the world. I just hope they include a wide range of items available online. It will also make it easier to purchase items via a well known and respected brand like ASOS a comfortable online experience.
There is only a selected bunch currently available but if you see anything you like well.... a little birdie told me there is a discount code currently running for 10% off - JUNBAY2013 ... shhh!

So if you see anything at the moment happy shopping and make sure you leave a comment to tell me your thoughts on this!!!

Olympic Style: Gold, Silver and Bronze

Hi All!!

So it has been almost a week since the Olympics ended and I have to say I am well and truly missing it. Before it started I was not really interested in watching it but I got hooked on almost the very first day and then watched it everyday once I got home from work, or all day on the weekends if I wasn't busy.

I was really sad to see those two weeks fly by so fast and I think Team GB did us proud - oh and I have to praise Team Jamrock too (as part of my heritage is Jamaican) I cheered on both teams...I reckon I leaned towards GB more though when I could haha!

Since the Olympics have finished and the Para Olympics are due to start I thought I would do a post with them both in mind for some inspiration. Instead of doing a 'Go Team GB Go' post with the Union Jack as inspiration like I did for the Queens Jubilee, I thought I would post some Gold, Silver and Bronze inspirational items.

Take a peek at these....

Gold

Silver

Bronze

All items are currently on sale at  www.asos.com which also has a 50% off selected items sale. So if you fancy wearing the gold, silver or bronze in celebration of the Olympics and Para Olympics then I hope this post is of some help to you.

Guest Post: Fashion and Cancer

Hi All!

Keeping in with Cancer Awareness as I previously posted about here I wanted to do another post for you all. Now this is the first time that I have had a guest post on my blog, I was approached by Jackie Clarke who was interested in talking about Fashion and Cancer together. So here is her post.....

Use Fashion to Gain the Power to Beat Cancer
By: Jackie Clarke
http://www.mesothelioma.com/blog

A cancer diagnosis can often feel like a death sentence for many women. There are many things that can contribute to a cancer prognosis, such as asbestos exposure, smoking or eating the wrong foods. Being told you have skin cancer; lung cancer, mesothelioma or any other serious cancer can make it easy for you to feel helpless and to give up quickly.

However, you should never give up when you have a network of beautiful people helping you to get through your treatments. In fact, you should try to look just as beautiful as these people act by focusing on fashion. Feeling beautiful in your own skin in spite of a cancer prognosis can help you achieve a power, strength and focus you may not have believed you could have in the face of such a serious condition.

Start by building a great wardrobe that highlights who you are and what you represent. Focus on colors that look great on you as well as fashion that highlight your strong areas. If you have nice legs, wear pants that show off their beauty. Jeans are a great way to show off your legs. Avoid sweat pants and other fashion faux paus, as these never look very good.

Build each outfit in your wardrobe around your strong areas. If you decide on jeans, try to choose shirts and accessories that go well with your jeans. Pick a series of colorful and beautiful shirts that highlight your skin tone, hair color and go well with your jean colors. Make sure to pick jewelry that looks great on you as well as accentuating your wardrobe.

Balance your wardrobe between formal outfits and casual outfits. This gives you the diversity to look great in any situation. Include hats into your outfit to look cute but don't wear hats just to hide hair loss. Hiding your loss reveals shame that you shouldn't feel about your condition. Keeping strong and gaining power through fashion requires showing off your strength with your fashion, not your weakness.

Slowly, you may find that you feel more confident. Your posture may improve and your self-esteem may grow. This is because you feel beautiful and are gaining the power and confidence to overcome your condition. Hold your head high and dress beautifully every day to stay focused on something besides your condition.

Focusing on something besides your condition is how you gain your strength. You are letting the world know that you won't be beaten down by cancer and that you are strong and beautiful. Use this knowledge, this power and this strength during the rough patches in your treatment. You may find you feel beautiful even during your cancer treatments.

I firstly want to thank Jackie for this guest post and hope that anyone out there who might have a form of Cancer and just happens to stumble across my blog feels that this post may help them in some way.

Christmas at Bicester Village (UK)

Hi All!!

I wanted to do a post about Bicester Village which is situated in Oxfordshire and for those of you who don't know much about this place please read on. I have been to Bicester but not for a few years now, but I would highly recommend going there for a great shopping experience and what would be better then going to a vintage shopping outlet then in the Festive Season?

As written on the website: Bicester Village is one of the Collection of nine Chic Outlet Shopping® Villages, operated by Value Retail. Founded in 1992, Value Retail has established itself as the only company dedicated to creating and operating luxury outlet shopping villages. Home to some 900 outlet boutiques of the world’s leading fashion and lifestyle brands, the Collection offers an unrivalled luxury outlet shopping experience for discerning shoppers in Europe. So for festive cheer guaranteed to warm the cockles of the most wintery heart, look no further than Bicester Village this December.

As well as their wonderful Christmas lights, late-night shopping on Thursdays over the entire period, and the usual exceptional in-store offers across the many boutiques, weary Christmas shoppers will find a welcome respite from their gift lists at the Christmas Tree House. This cosy festal haven sounds fab as they serve mulled wine, mince pies and the like for visitors needing a little something to restore their seasonal spirit, before hitting the stores once more. Also the lovely people over at Bicester want to give away a Santa’s sack-load of gifts just waiting to be won in the Festive Secrets competition online. Prizes range from weekends away, to stunning pieces from favorite brands, and Village Gift Cards.

I have already had a go at the competition which is really easy, if you have a browse of the website and come across a Bronze, Silver or Gold Reindeer you will be prompted to enter your details to be in with a chance of winning one of the great gifts. Alternatively if you 'like' the Facebook page, you can enter the £100 gift card and Warwick Castle tickets prize draw.

Bicester Village Festive Secrets really seems seems like a fun way to do some Christmas shopping with stores such as Dior, Agent Provocateur, Jimmy Choo and many many more!! I love entering competitions, don't you? Will you be taking part in the online competitions like me? Anyone been to Bicester Village recently or planning on making a trip there soon?

For those of you who don't know much about it The Clothes Show is an annual event that takes place in Birmingham where thousands and thousands of people go to show at the NEC. The event always has a magical catwalk show with models and dancers - this year The Risk and Kimberley Wyatt (Pussycat Dolls) performed there too.

I shopped until I dropped and I wanted to show you what I wore...

I also wore a feather in my hair from Feather Punks which I have been sent to review so check my next post about that...

I decided to go with the classic winged eye, false lashes and red lipstick for my make-up....

My nails were matted black from Avon.....

Here is what Heidi (The Rockettes) and Stef wore.....

Trousers: New Look

Jumper: Vintage

What do you think? Did you go to the clothes show, if so what did you wear?

The Show: Redefinition

Hi All!!

Something fabulous is about to hit the West Midlands. If you are around between 23rd - 25th September which is THIS WEEKEND then why don't you head on down to the UK's most visited shopping centre which is the Bullring Centre! Why, you ask? As part of Style Birmingham Live The Show: Redefinition will be unveiled to all soon!! All that is known now is that fashion and technology will be combined in a stunning display.

Real-life and holographic models blur the boundaries between reality and illusion in this truly unique catwalk show, whilst showcasing eight divine AW11 trends. The Show: Redefinition will use Musion 3D technology to create the illusion of a volumetric model on a holographic backdrop, whilst real-life models emerge onto the catwalk, including Britain’s Next Top Model 2010 winner, Tiffany Pisani, and another very special guest.

These are looks you’ve never seen before, as you’ve never seen them before; The Show: Redefinition takes inspiration from the key trends for AW11 including gothic-influenced Dark Romance combined with elegant 40s flair inspired by Hollywood luxe and beautiful silhouettes. Many of the centre’s shops, including Reiss, French Connection, Forever 21, COS, River Island and Kurt Geiger will take part in The Show: Redefinition with make-up provided by The Body Shop and hair created by Regis at Debenhams in Bullring.

I work in Birmingham City Centre and have seen the posters around for a few weeks and I have to admit I am intrigued by it all too. I mean just take a peek at this video advert....

It's all so hush hush really, isn't it? If you are interested in witnessing the event then head on over to  http://www.browsebullring.co.uk/fashion-news/the-show-redefinition/ for more information and to see if you can win exclusive tickets and giveaways.
